This guide will give you important information you should know before applying; such as:
Business Credit Cards - What are they & how do they work?
Generally speaking, business credit cards are used to separate personal and business spending and tend to have higher initial credit limits than most personal credit cards do. In addition, most cards have perks that would be advantageous for small to medium sized businesses..
Who would benefit from this type of credit card?
Simply, anyone who either already has a business or is looking to start a business will benefit from having a business credit card in their financial arsenal.
The reason why is because it is possible to save a large amount of money (via cash back and other reward schemes) on business-related products such as office supplies, communication, gasoline and air travel as well as other types of expense.
Choosing the most beneficial card for you and your business.
The perks you receive vary a lot and certain rewards schemes may be beneficial to some and less beneficial to other... and visa versa. This is precisely why you need to choose your card carefully.
For example, if you had a small accountancy office 30 miles from your home, and you drove there each day, you would want to apply for a credit card which rewarded you with points for dollars spent on both gasoline and office supplies.
If you were flying on business 5 times a week then obviously you would want a card that would reward you will airmiles and/or lounge access to make catching the red-eye a little less painful!
Of course, if you were a brand new business and were just setting up office, you would probably want to choose a business credit card with a cash back rewards where you could earn back, say, 5% cash on office supplies and communication.
Some additional tips.
Be very sure to check what the annual fees are as some business credit cards can charge quite a substantial sum for annual usage. Many don't charge for the first year, and of course, you should be able to write the fee off as an 'expense', but it's worth checking all the same.
In addition, most card issuers require good to excellent credit in order to approve you and if you don't fall into that category you may unfortunately have to go withh
another type of credit card
and miss out on some business related perks.
